About
Gi-Samba is an electrifying Brazilian music project led by the talented Guilherme Almeida Jnr. (aka Gui), a dynamic musician deeply rooted in a rich lineage of Brazilian music. Born into a musical family, Gui is the son of renowned Brazilian pianist Guilherme Jorge Salgado de Almeida from Rio de Janeiro, and the grandson of Ariosvaldo Oliveira, the famous Samba singer of Banda da Meia Lua.
With three generations of Brazilian music flowing through his veins, Gui has been immersed in the sounds and rhythms of Brazil from an early age.
Gui’s passion for Brazilian music is apparent in every performance. Having toured internationally and shared the stage with internationally acclaimed musicians, his artistry blends the traditional with the contemporary, effortlessly weaving modern urban influences into the timeless essence of Brazilian heritage. Known for his fine-tuned vocals and mastery of all styles of Brazilian percussion, Gui creates a unique sound that brings his Afro-Brazilian roots to life in a vibrant and energetic way.
Gi-Samba can take the form of an intimate trio, delivering a deeply personal musical experience, or expand into a full band for larger events, offering a powerful and dynamic live performance. Gui is currently collaborating with the accomplished Brazilian jazz bassist Chris Frazier, further elevating the musical depth and versatility of Gi-Samba.
Whether performing in an intimate setting or on grand stages, Gi-Samba is a celebration of Brazil’s rich cultural history, brought to life through the electrifying energy of its modern-day ambassador, Gui.
